Maha Shivaratri Ashram Visit 2020

20th - 23rd February

Shiva means nothingness absolute voidness yet he is all powerful and all providing. Shiva means someone who doesn't exist, but everything comes from him. Shiva is known to be the destroyer amongst the Trimurti which is ‘Brahma Vishnu and Shiva’. Shiva spent long periods of time in deep meditation in the Himalayas his mighty abode. He is known as the Adhi Yogi the first Guru.

Maha Shivaratri meaning the great night of night of Shiva falls on the  21st of February 2020. It is a night where we are given the opportunity to offer our spiritual practices to the feet of Lord Shiva by participating in an all night meditation. On this day, light food is advisable or you can observe a fast. There will be a special sacred fire ceremony the Mahashivarathri Mrutyunjaya homa early evening before the all-night meditation. It is important to be seated with your spinal column in an erect position as we meditate throughout the night (or for as long as you feel comfortable) to receive comic blessings on this auspicious occasion. You will gain self control and God consciousness as you meditate.

This is a great opportunity to deepen your meditation practice and receive the blessing from Lord Shiva and our beloved Guruji Dev Baba.

We will depart from Goa on the 20th of Feb by 5 am and on route to the Ashram, we will stop at the stunning Murdeshwar temple where we will take a tour followed by brunch.

We should reach the Ashram by sunset the same day, at which time there will be an orientation, dinner and early bedtime.

The following day you will meet Paramjit's beloved Guruji Shri Dev Baba for meditation and a Q&A discussion. Paramjit will coordinate and lead you to all the Ashram's activities.

On the 21st is the Maha Shivaratri programme. It is a day of fasting or eating light food. There will be a special sacred fire ceremony the Mahashivarathri Mrutyunjaya homa early evening before the all-night meditation.

On the 23rd we will leave to go back to Goa after breakfast. We will stop on the way for vegetarian lunch and should reach Riverside Shakti Retreat, Siolim, by sunset.
